Virginia Opossum

Didelphis virginiana

Description:

Round, hairless ears with white around the edges. Various lengths of fur ranging from white to black. Close together eyes with a cute pink nose. Scary sharp looking teeth and an intimidating hiss. Didn't see his tail, but I'm sure it was scaly!

Habitat:

He has been hanging out in our yard at night, probably feeding on insects. We live in a suburban area that does border a country setting.

Notes:

My dog, Beulah, sounded the alarm shortly after I let her out. She cornered this guy and I had to come to his rescue. Beulah wasn't sure why the strange cat wouldn't play with her, and I'm sure she'll be on the lookout for him every time she uses the restroom.
