Laetiporus sulphureus

Description:

Laetiporus sulphureus - Chicken of the Woods or Sulphur Shelf mushroom. Growing in overlapping brackets. The tops are deep orange in the middle to light salmon orange and then light orange-yellow at the edges. The under surface is bright yellow. Dimensions: 6 inches wide by 5 inches.

Habitat:

Growing near the bottom of a fallen Oak tree in Prospect Park Brooklyn

Notes:

The shelves were attached to the oak by a very small stem-like attachment of only about 1 in. diameter.
