Nice shot. Out here the nesting sites are protected. They just discovered 7 nesting site near Los Angeles, this hasn't happened since 1940.
Congrats, great photo but you should also add the scientific name and a reference which I have suggested.
It's heartbreaking to see a species in decline. I do love your photo though, and congrats on your SOTD. Much deserved :-)

Once a common species, populations of least terns are declining, and this small tern is now listed as endangered.
