False bombardier beetle

Galerita bicolor

Description:

My aunt sent me this picture. It's very poor quality I'm sorry for that. She lives in a wooded area surrounded by corn fields. Her house is prone to insect invasions, mostly stink bugs and spiders. I've never seen an insect like this. Any ideas??

Habitat:

Inside house in a wooded area surrounded by trees and corn fields.

I'm not sure what this is but will guess it is a bombardier beetle in the subfamily Brachininae. These are really cool beetles with some very good defenses. Take a look at http://bugguide.net/node/view/16826/bgpa... for more information.
