Cape Barren Goose

Cereopsis novaehollandiae

Description:

These are bulky geese and their almost uniformly grey plumage, bearing rounded black spots, is unique. The tail and flight feathers are blackish and the legs are pink with black feet. The short, decurved black bill and green cere gives it a very peculiar expression.

Habitat:

Tasmanian coastal grasslands and marsupial lawns.

Notes:

In Maria Island National Park.

Thanks Luis and Reza. There is something very painterly about them. And the bubblegum pink legs with the black feet are just remarkable.

Thanks Liz and Cindy. I've always thought there was something "painterly" about their feathering. And the red legs with black feet it just wild.
