A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Cygnus olor
A large white waterfowl with an orange bill and black "mask".
Native to Europe, and introduced to North America -- where they're actually an "invasive species". Can be spotted on Toronto's waterfront even in the winter.

i find it very interesting how we form laws/rules regarding animals & nature -- it's something that can't really be contained within a politically-determined border, but is 'governed' based upon it. i find environmental policy a very hard subject for sure.
The hard part, at least in the USA, is that they are protected by the migratory bird act despite their invasive and non-native status.
