Mississippi Green Water Snake

Description:

Dark, mottled body with a thick head and brown eyes. This species can be separated from all other water snakes (Nerodia) by the additional scale row under the eye. Other Nerodia sp have the eye directly touching the lip scales.

Habitat:

Found in a bald cypress swamp.
