Short-beaked Echidna
Grassy rural yard
One of two species of Monotreme (along with the Playtpus) who lay eggs and express milk.
They're very cute, in their own shambolic ambling way
I never knew there was anything other than the platypus who laid eggs and expressed milk. Now i do. I love the pic.
It was just having a stroll though my backyard. I had to get this shot through some rushes, as echidna, when aproached, will rapidly burrow into the ground leaving only their back spines exposed.
