Yellow-bellied Water Snake

Nerodia erythrogaster flavigaster

Description:

Plain gray-blue back with a yellow belly. Although the adults have lost the pattern the juveniles have, this was the prettiest N. erythrogaster I have ever seen.

Habitat:

Found swimming in a small concrete pond at night surrounded by piney woods. We were on an old military base so there were lots of concrete structures.
