Spotting

Description:

This bird was very backlit.... I had to tweak it a lot to bring out the colors. Any ideas anyone? I'm guessing Western Kingbird....?

Habitat:

A small nature trail just inside the Idaho border from Utah. There's a small lake, thickets, a meadow. I also saw doves, Grosbeak (black-headed), heard Tufted Titmice.

It could be a female or a nonbreeding male. It's hard to see the tail, but it looks a bit short for a Cordilleran Flycatcher

My first thought was it looked like some kind of flycatcher. Maybe a Cordilleran Flycatcher? Female Goldfinch would be my other guess though. Both seem possible based off of what we can see in your photo

Hmmm... Goldfinch eh..... (looking in book).... you may be right. Possibly female? Too bad the head's turned away.
