A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Cercis canadensis L.
Early spring bloomer on bare branches. I've never tried it, but apparently the flowers and buds can be eaten as a salad or fried ... or added to breads and pancakes. They have a slightly sour taste, high in vitamin C. Young pods may be eaten raw, boiled or sauteed. Who knew?

Thanks, they are beautiful in the spring, so cheerful-looking. They grow in the wild, and are also used quite a bit in landscaping.
Indeed beautiful !
