Stingless Bee hive

Scaptotrigona sp.

Description:

They looked like a type of stingless bees but I still need a more proper ID. They were no more than 1 cm, perhaps less. Reddish color with upper torax and eyes black. The nest was embedded in a dead tree at the floor level.

These are probably Scaptotrigona genus. Do you remember if they were very agressive protecting their nest?
