Description:

The blue back of the Little Blue Heron and a reddish chest neck and head. A staring light colored eye and a pinkish purple beak near the face that darkens about halfway from the face to tip. About the size of the Great Blue Heron

Habitat:

Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge

Notes:

Known for the curious fishing "dance" it performs, it is endangered and an ongoing study in Florida is trying to estimate remaining numbers
