Yellow caps with brown scales. Cap sizes approximately 1-1.5 inches. Stipe shaggy and gills light brown.

Habitat:

Spotted growing in a cluster on a fallen birch tree in a mostly deciduous forest.

Either Pholiota squarrosa or Pholiota squarrosoides. They can be difficult to distinguish without a microscope.
