Eastern Screech Owl

Megascops asio

Description:

A gray and a rufous screech owl in a nesting box together. At first, there was just the rufous one (third photo), but then the little gray one popped up. The owners of the house said that the gray one is the one usually residing there.

Habitat:

Near pastures, a pond, and pine trees with little to no underbrush. Fox squirrels are also common in this area, and I saw a barred owl in the evening very close by.
