Description:

This small microfungus has a large impact in the forest. Underground the fungi connect to tree roots where it feeds on the sugars the tree makes from carbon dioxide and sunlight and in return the fungus helps the tree with nutrient gathering, disease prevention, and water balance.

Habitat:

Spotted at the end of a log in a wetland habitat.
