Cactus zapatilla / Devil's backbone or Zigzag plant

Euphorbia tithymaloides

Description:

A very strange plant with a shoe-like flower and very irregular branches. It looks as if it were made of plastic. This is the first time it is flowering and I took this pictures which are the first ones of the plant's flower.

Habitat:

Dry forest.

Notes:

http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/g... There is a very interesting paper about the use of this plant to make hidrocarbons (fuels simmilar to gasoline) : http://ejournal.sinica.edu.tw/bbas/conte...
