Wheel Bug (nymph)

Arilus cristatus

Description:

The wheel bug nymph is a nasty looking assassin bug, with a bright red backside and a body that can be silver (like this one) or black. Long raised antennae off its head and creepy legs.

Habitat:

Wooded region by the water. Went to move my car and caught a glimpse of him on my tire.

Notes:

The adult wheel bug can have a very brutal bite, so if you see one, don't pick it up! Sorry I did not have my camera with me so I had to go cell phone style.
