Aesculap

Zamenis longissimus; Syn.: Elaphe longissima

Description:

Going for y walk in the vinyards today I found this dead snake today, that had been discarded there by a man, that I met nearby, who proudly told me that he had killed it. Apparently it was in his garden climbing up the fig tree, it is about 1,10 meter long. He killed it because he thought it was dangerous. What he learned in his home country, probably Arabia, taught him to do so, he did´t know that we do not have poisonous snakes in most parts of Germany. I told him several times that there hasn´t been any need to kill this snake. I think its an Aesculap natter. Zamenis longissimus; Syn.: Elaphe longissima

Habitat:

Dry fields.
