Turkey Vulture

Description:

Scavenger bird with a strong sense of smell that feeds on carrion. Adults of this species have a red featherless head as opposed to the black head of the black vulture found in the area as well.

Habitat:

Large and varied

Notes:

This group of about 8-10 were feeding on a large dead catfish that had floated up on shore. There were also 3-4 ravens that were being chased off from the carcass!
