Yeah, I read that when I was looking up the species name. This was at a friend's house in the hills, only a couple miles from a huge forested park, so they must have wandered down from there. My friend had never seen them before, but one of his neighbors told me she had seen them a couple of years ago.

It was just bizarre watching this small rafter of turkeys wandering around on the sidewalks.

Cool. Though native to North America the eastern birds were actually introduced into California as a game species, and have since gone native in the west, particularly in areas of mixed oak chaparral.
