Northern Dusky Salamander

Desmognathus fuscus

Description:

This salamander was about five inches long. Its tail was knife-like and was about two inches long. The salamander was black with brown splotches and specks.

Habitat:

Found under a rock in a fast moving stream near a waterfall.

Notes:

I was hiking on Indian Flats Falls when I found this salamander.
