False garden mantis

Description:

The False Garden Mantis is one of the most common species of mantis in Australia. Females reach 70 mm while males reach 50 mm. Colour uniform green or some shade of brown, often with a dark spot on inner face of fore femur. This species is sexually dimorphic. Males are slender with full length, semi-transparent wings. Females are more robust with a stout abdomen and only half-length wings; the fore wings are opaque. The body size up to 7 cm.The False Garden Mantid is not aggressive to humans. Females cannot fly because of her being short winged but the male is long winged and is not as big as the female.

Habitat:

The False Garden Mantid lives in urban areas, forests and woodlands and are widely distributed over Australia and some other local islands on the coast line of Australia.
