Brick Cap

Hypholoma lateritium

Description:

Pink caps with pale margins. White/gray gills with brown spores visible. They were 8-10cm tall. The cap in the images showing the gills (3-4) had some hairs growing along the margin. I didn’t notice the hairs until I uploaded the pictures, so I’m not sure if all the mushrooms had them or not.

Habitat:

Growing in a tight cluster under leaf litter – out from underneath rotting wood. I also spotted some growing at the base of an oak tree.
