Erythronium montanum
Erect flowering stem from pair of plain green leaves. Leaves shiny, 4–8 in. long, half as wide, with undulating edges and sharply pointed tips. Raceme of 1–4 flowers tops stem. Flowers glistening white, yellow to orange-yellow at base, sometimes turning pink with age. Blooms just after snowmelt, sometimes in spectacular large patches.
Grows in damp meadows at upper mid- to high elevations.
One of the signature Mt. Rainier wildflowers. They were literally growing everywhere and in large patches! So beautiful! Spotted on the Skyline Loop Trail, Mt. Rainier NP.
