Black River Turtle

Rhinoclemmys funerea

Notes:

Found in a creek flowing through an orange grove. Upon picking it up I noticed it had several ticks on it. 2 on it's back legs and 1 on it's shell. I couldn't get an image of the ones on it's legs as it kept them pulled in as long as I was close. But I got one of the one on the shell, http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/348...

Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!

Great photos! It would be great if you added the spotting to the "Reptiles of Costa Rica" mission:
