A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Taeniopygia guttata
This pair of little finches was working low-cut grass and weeds in a country town church cemetery. Both have a typical banded black and white tail and orange bill but the male also has orange cheek patches and an area of tan with white spots on it's sides.
Open country grassy field in winter.
Apparently this species pairs up for life.... sweet! A common pet species around the world but It is good to see them wild and in their original range.
