Large predatory wader, up to 1m tall. Mainly grey body with white long neck and face, black crown (not descending under the eyes) and long spear-like bill

Habitat:

Seen in Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary, Senegal - also known as 'Migratory Bird paradise'... Djoudj is a large wetland area, and the most important wintering site for most migrants having crossed Mediterranean sea and Sahara from Europe.
