Red-eared slider

Trachemys scripta elegans

Description:

Spotted in The Lake in Central Park. It doesn't look like the Red-eared Sliders that make up most of the turtle population I saw there. EDIT: Aaron_G identified this as an older male red-eared slider. Thanks :¬)

Hi there. This is an older male slider. When they get some years on them the skin of the males turns dark and the shell becomes this lighter color that's outlined with black. Nice spotting! :-)
