Golden rain tree

Koelreuteria paniculata

Description:

An exotic planted, surprisingly, with magnolias and other native trees around the courthouse square in a small southern town. Here's another spotting that shows the tree later in the year, better pics of foliage and trunk: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/385....

Notes:

Native to eastern Asia, in China and Korea. Other names include Pride of India, China tree and varnish tree. Papery pods in the fall.
