Queen Butterfly

Danaus gilippus

Description:

This reddish orang butterfly is sometimes mistaken as a Monarch butterfly. This is because even as caterpillars both butterflies have the same coloration pattern. I so happen to see this queen butterfly hanging on a bare branch after a rain storm. I thought it was cool for it seemed that this behavior is do to keep dry form the rain.

Habitat:

I took this picture at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary.
