Longhorn Beetle

Malacopterus tenellus

Description:

Long, tan beetle about 4 cm long with vertical striped elytra. The antennae are very long. The scutellum is gold.

Habitat:

Resting at San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Found from the Southwestern US to South America. Larvae feed on dead wood of hackberry, willow, and poplar .
