Butterfly

Common Name

Description:

Bright orange and black butterfly with white highlights and a greenish body. It was about the size of a Monarch, although slightly smaller.

Habitat:

A very warm week of the late summer after several days of rain.

Notes:

We set some rotting pears outside to attract butterflies. Flies seemed to get the most out of them, but a few butterflies came by including this one.

As far as I can say - I only know a bit of European and Asian Species- look like a Polygonia Sp. I know that there are American Polygonias, but I cant go further. I take the risk : Satyr Comma (Polygonia satyrus)

Cheers!
