Brachythemis contaminata
Brachythemis is a genus of dragonfly in family Libellulidae. They are commonly known as Groundlings. Brachythemis contaminata (Fabricius, 1793), is known with the following common names: Ditch Jewel, Asian Groundling, Asian Amberwing, Orange Skimmer, Common Amberwing. The Asian Groundling males look really good with orange coloration to their wings.Their thorax and abdomen change color slightly as they age, from light brown to a more deep orange. The females are very similar to the males, although they have colorless wings and their thorax and abdomen is a yellow/brown. The females become darker brown as they age.
Backyard adjacent to an open space. Brachythemis contaminata is a widespread species that thrives in open and disturbed habitats and which is not threatened.
