A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Tiny weevils in the apex of a twig engaged in some three wheeling. Mottled brown on their backs and a long rostrum similar to the solitary seed weevil I saw earlier (on Eucalyptus) http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/383...
On silver wattle (Acacia sp.)
A rather embarrassed flea beetle made a rapid departure. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/383...
See Lyal (1993: 36): [quote]Oreda dubia, here synonymised with O. notata, was described from a specimen collected in New South Wales; two other specimens have been seen that are labelled as collected in Australia. It is likely that all three were accidentally transported from New Zealand, and that the species does not occur naturally in Australia.[unquote] [This applies to the whole genus]
