Squash Vine Borer Moth

Melittia cucurbitae

Description:

Robust dark grey body, with reddish-orange legs, and abdomen. Easily confused with a wasp, and wings move like a humming-bird moth.

Habitat:

Spotted nectaring on butterfly bush (Buddleia davidii) in my front yard.

Notes:

The second spotting of this species, as it is a favorite of mine.
