Garter Snake

Thamnophis sirtalis

Description:

Snake approximately 1.5 feet in length. Slug approximately 2 inches in length.

Habitat:

Found in a bunch of grass and weeds.

Notes:

Verified in the book. Reptiles of the Northwest: California to Alaska, Rockies to the Coast. By Alan St. John. This snake was not eager to give up it's prize. I don't know if the snake ever managed to eat the slug?

Looks like a common garter snake to me! Fantastic series! Please consider adding it to the "Reptiles of the Pacific Northwest" mission!
