Spotted Ground Squirrel

Spermophilus spilosoma

Description:

Slim dusty brown on top with faded to obvious white spots on the back. The underside is light color. Eyes are large, ears are short and flat. Tail is medium length and thin.

Habitat:

Spotted in the upland desert with slim plant life, living in burrows in the sandy ground.

Notes:

I will be posting two separate spottings of this species. One found in the upland desert and the other in a higher elevation in the mountains.
