Tumbling Flower Beetle

Description:

This beetle was brown with a light "V" on the elytra. Tribe Mordellistenini. Best guess from Bug Guide is Mordellistena sp but can't say definitively without seeing metatibial & metatrsal ridges.

Habitat:

Mexican Bush Sage in the backyard.

These little guys are difficult to photograph because of how they tuck their heads when disturbed. I don't think I've ever gotten a decent shot of the eyes. Nice shot.
