Snowberry Clearwing Moth

Description:

Family: Sphingidae. Subfamily: Macroglossinae. (Small Sphinx Moths) Bumblebee mimic. Very fast moving. Total length: 22-30 mm. Transparent FW has thin black border with smooth inner edge. Apical spot and stripe along inner margin are orange. Cream-colored thoraxhas brown dorsal stripe. Blackish abdomen has broken yellow band near tip Day feeder. Various plants such as Snowberry, honeysuckle and lilac shown here.

Habitat:

Fields, meadow, gardens. Feeding on Lilac bush.
