Summer Farewell

Dalea pinnata

Description:

Order: Fabales > Family: Fabaceae. Native to the sandhills and pinebarrens of the deep south, this plant is aptly named, blooming in October, just as the heat of the Summer finally begins to break in north central Florida. Morningside is the only place I have ever seen this species but it appears in great clumps, standing maybe 2 feet tall and usually covered in pollinators of every sort.
