Blusher Mushroom

Amanita amerirubescens group

Description:

Orange-tan cap with remnants of volva present as warts. Cream colored gills. Stem had a pink hue. This mushroom was at least 10 cm tall.

Habitat:

Growing on the ground in a deciduous forest.

Notes:

The exact species of this mushroom is unknown, but it is in the Amanita amerirubescens group. Amanita expert Rod Tulloss has documented several eastern North American versions of Amanita rubescens, which now temporarily share the provisional name of "Amanita amerirubescens."
