I have been doing research and I found a cool site that might help you narrow down the species. I though your bird was a thrush, but no Indian thrushes look that this one. http://wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_birds_...

The speckled plumage is similar to that of a Starling.

My first thought was also a juvenile; the spotting maybe part of its youthful appearance.
