Choeradodis sp.
Also known as shield mantis or leaf mantis. For some reason no one thought of "cobra mantis". Members of this genus are found both in the Neotropic and some parts of Asia.

Sorry, the mantis kept moving so it could keep its eyes on me and conceal itself (rather poorly, really) behind the twig. I was part of a tour group so I couldn´t stay for too long; these are the only pics I took of it.
Thanks for checking it out, tho!
From this perspective I cannot tell you if it really is Choeradodis rhombicollis.

I think there must be some truth to that belief; not the first time something similar happens to me. I already knew about giant earthworms (read about them when I was little), but didn´t know there were so many kinds, and so widespread!
:)
In India (where I live) we believe that if you hear or see something for the first time you will see or hear it very soon again... as if you have been primed...made aware. But reading about giant worms and then finding one popping up on screen...great coincidence...
Funny about the giant worm, I was reading about them just the day before he posted it!
But nah, this one is just a neat trick. I actually didn´t plan for the guy to come into frame- he just did.
