Description:

Elongated beetle of about 2.5cm in length, dark brown with a reddish tinge and strong mandibles. The flat upperside is marked by a groove down the centre of the thorax, and several running the length of the elytra.

Habitat:

Rainforest in Emiliano Zapata in Chiapas, Mexico.

A species of Stag Beetle I think (Family Lucanidae). Determining the exact species may be difficult. There seems to be a lot of them.
