Description:

One of my favorite wildflowers, native to Eastern and Midwestern North America. Commonly found in shady, deciduous woods and possesses a pouch-shaped spathe ("pulpit") with an overhanging hood that surrounds a fingerlike central spadix ("Jack").

Habitat:

Most and shady deciduous woods.
