American White Pelicans

Pelecanus erythrorhynchos

Description:

A large, heavy bodied, white waterbird with short legs. The feet are webbed and the wings are long and broad, with a black trailing edge. The tail is short and the bill is long with extensible pouch.

Habitat:

Two very large flocks circled briefly overhead and then flew on in a southerly direction.

Yes Marta they are migrating back to the Texas Coast. I am on the Central Flyway so spring and fall are good times to look and see who is in, especially after a storm front. :) Here is more information and a map from BirdWeb: http://www.birdweb.org/birdweb/bird/amer...
