Common flat lizard

Platysaurus intermedius

Description:

Some 30 cm in total length; male brightly colored, female dark brown with three distinctive white-cream lines on the back. Slightly reddish on throat.

Habitat:

Seen on a rocky and dry escarpment close to Harare - the Domboshawa national monument. Dry alright, no vegetation on the hill itself, but many small streams on slopes and small water ponds at the base. And surrounded with very green vegetation at the time of visit - we are in the middle of rainy season.
