White-backed Vulture

Gyps africanus

Description:

Out of the 7 different species of Vulture in Africa, I believe this one is the White-backed Vulture. These ones were spotted in Maasai Mara area by a river where the great Wildebeest migration takes place. These Vultures were feasting on dead carcasses along with Marabou Storks.

Notes:

Currently updated to the Endangered species list in 2012.

Hi Arya, I took a liberty to remove this spotting from the 'African Mammals in the Wild' mission, but included it in 'Birds of sub-Saharan Africa' mission. Cheers
