Chestnut-tailed Starling

Sturnia malabarica

Description:

Also known as Grey-headed Myna, this a medium sized starling of some 20 cm in length, with grey-brown back and black flight feathers. The underparts are whitish but tinged rufous; while the head is light grey with whitish streaking around the collar - indicating that this should be the subspecies S. m. nemoricola. Other recognisable traits are white irises and a blue-based yellow beak.

Habitat:

I've seen the pair of them on a hole in wall (of our hotel), likely constructing the nest, and chasing sparrows from the hole... Wooded area in a hotel garden right behind the town beach in Sittwe.
